Cast Iron Surface Plates

We offer standard 12 '' x 18 '' cast iron surface plates in two grades:

  • laboratory grade AA (.000025” per 6”)
  • Inspection grade A (.000050” per 6”)
  • Contact us for custom higher accuracy options

Cast iron surface plates (used as surface master) for calibration of our
systems for large sample applications.

Cast iron is more dimensionally and geometrically stable over time than
granite or ceramics and is more easily worked to a higher grade of
flatness. It provides more uniform optically surface free of color and
refractive index variation characterizing granite plates.
